"I, Tilmon D. Kyger, Captain Company C, 73rd Regt Ills Vols Infty do hereby certify that I was acquainted with Jacob Martin, Who was a member of my Company and as I am informed that his wife is an applicant for a widows pension.

That the said Jacob Martin enlisted at Quaker Point, Ills July 22, 1862, and was mustered into the service of the United States at Camp Butler Ills by Capt Ewing on the 21st day of August 1862. And died on the 23rd day of February 1863 at Murfreesboro Tenn., while in the service of the United States, and in the line of his duty as a Soldier.
