Allen Humes Baker served with Captain Samuel Hooper's Company D, 40th Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment, with the rank of Sergeant.

He was born 7 December 1839, Chester County, PA. He married Mary Elizabeth Carrothers, 24 June 1868, Richland Co, IL. Allen died 15 January 1900 and was buried at Carthage, Jasper County, MO.

Children of Allen Humes Baker and Mary Elizabeth Carrothers were: George Carrothers and Katherine BAKER.
