Organized at Camp Butler, June 16, 1862, for three months. Moved to Wheeling, W. Va., July 5 - 7, thence to Washington, D.C., July 9 - 10. Camp at Soldiers' Retreat and near Alexandria, Va., till August 24. Provost duty at Alexandria, Va., till September 17. Moved to Camp Butler, Ill., September 17-21.

Mustered out September 27, 1862.

Regiment lost 25 by disease during service.
